Factores de riesgo a vigilar por el médico de la familia en el diabético.

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal para conocer el comportamiento de algunos factores de riesgo, así como, enfermedades asociadas en la diabetes mellitus en trece consultorios del Policlínica Comunitario Docente Norte de Florida en el período comprendido desde Enero de 2001 a Diciembre de 2002. El universo estuvo representado por 57 pacientes registrados dispensarialmente como diabéticos (Grupo III-22) que representan el 91,9% de un total de 62 pacientes de los cuales se excluyeron 5 por causas geográficas o negativas de los mismos. La fuente de datos estuvo representada por la historia clínica familiar, completándose los datos con una encuesta diseñada al efecto que se convirtió en el registro primario definitivo de los datos, cuyo procesamiento se llevó a cabo en una Microcomputadora IBM compatible utilizando el paquete de programas MICROSTAT. Se encontró que los pacientes estudiados en su inmensa mayoría eran mujeres mayores de 50 años, fumadoras y con examen vascular patológico. Existió una relación positiva entre los  diabéticos y la hipertensión Arterial, la neuropatía y las arteriopatías. En nuestra serie predominó la presencia de lesiones incipientes con peligro potencial para los pies de los pacientes diabéticos. Luego de haber efectuado nuestras acciones de salud se apreció una disminución significativa en los fumadores y una mejoría en el control glicémico y peso corporal.
