Enfermedades Reemergentes: SIDA y Tuberculosis en Zimbabwe.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo y observacional en el Hospital Misionero de Chitsungo, Zimbabwe, durante el periodo comprendido desde Julio del 2002 hasta Enero del 2003.Nuestro universo estuvo conformado por 73 pacientes con diagnostico de Tuberculosis Pulmonar, los cuales fueron informados oportunamente sobre nuestra investigación y obtuvimos su consentimiento para su participación. Realizamos a todos los pacientes test de VIH. Encontramos un 72,6% de los pacientes con Tuberculosis Pulmonar VIH positivos, con mayor prevalencia en el sexo femenino con un 79,2%. Dentro de las principales enfermedades asociadas encontramos las Linfoadenopatias con 75,5% (72,5% en el sexo femenino), seguida de las Infecciones Micóticas con 47,2% también con mayor frecuencia en el sexo femenino con 64% y en tercer lugar el Síndrome Diarreico Crónico en un 43,4%. Mas de la mitad de los pacientes tuvieron una mala respuesta a la fase intensiva de tratamiento con un 77,4%.Las complicaciones más comunes fueron el Absceso Pulmonar con 34%, Derrame Pleural masivo 26,4% y Meningitis Tuberculosa con 22,6%.
