Bajo peso al nacer en la provincia Ciego de Ávila durante el período 1999-2004.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo retrospectivo. Nuestro universo de estudio estuvo constituido por 1846 niños nacidos bajo peso (peso menor 2500 g) en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila durante los años 1999 – 2004. De este universo se estudiaron diferentes variables las cuales se obtuvieron de los registros de morbilidad y mortalidad del departamento de estadística de la dirección provincial de salud, los datos fueron procesados en una computadora Pentium IV utilizando el programa estadístico Microsoft Excel, se concluyo que el índice de bajo peso al nacer a presentado una tendencia descendente, el mayor porcentaje de niños bajo peso se ubica en el grupo de 2000 g a 2499 g para un 70 %, existe una relación directa entre el bajo peso al nacer y la mortalidad, existe un predominio en él numero del BPN pretérmino sobre el CIUR y el mixto respectivamente en nuestra provincia.
