Tratamiento quirúrgico del cáncer laríngeo en el Hospital “Antonio Luaces Iraola” de Ciego de Ávila.
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo de los casos portadores de cáncer laríngeo en estadíos III y IV, tratados de manera quirúrgica en el Hospital Provincial de Ciego de Ávila, en el período comprendido entre julio de 1998 y febrero del 2003. Se encontró un predominio del sexo masculino de más de 60 años de edad. El mayor número de pacientes intervenidos se encontraban en estadío III y presentaron como tipo histológico el carcinoma epidermoide bien diferenciado. Las enfermedades asociadas fueron mayormente la malnutrición y la anemia. La técnica quirúrgica más utilizada fue la laringectomía total suprahioidea con cierre faríngeo mecánico. La estadía hospitalaria fue de entre siete y catorce días. Las complicaciones más frecuentes fueron la metástasis cervical, la hemorragia, la sepsis respiratoria y el abceso de la pared. El mayor número de pacientes presenta un tiempo de operado entre dos y cinco años y los dos fallecidos tuvieron como causa directa de muerte metástasis pulmonar, con una supervivencia de uno a dos años y medio.
