Asesoramiento genético para una familia afectada con Síndrome Frágil X.

Abstract

Con el presente trabajo identificamos la discapacidad de causa prenatal que con mayor frecuencia se manifestó en nuestra provincia y municipio, con el objetivo de diseñar una estrategia preventiva que se apoye en los elementos técnicos del Asesoramiento Genético para el Síndrome Frágil X, enfermedad que aportó un importante número de casos con retraso mental en el municipio Venezuela, y con ello poder realizar el diagnóstico oportuno a las personas que en estos momentos se encuentran afectadas. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica detallada sobre los aspectos más relevantes de la enfermedad en cuestión y del asesoramiento genético en forma general. La causa genética que contribuyó a elevar la tasa de discapacidad en la provincia Ciego de Ávila y en el municipio Venezuela fue el retraso mental ligero. Se diseñó una metodología de asesoramiento genético con el propósito de elevar los conocimientos de la familia sobre el Síndrome Frágil X y prevenir la aparición de nuevos casos. Se confeccionó un documento informativo como instrumento educativo sobre el síndrome.
