Enfermedad de Caroli. Presentación de un caso.

Abstract

Los trastornos de las vías biliares se deben a una variedad de condiciones o procesos congénitos, inflamatorios, metabólicos, infecciosos o neoplásicos, muchas veces con cuadro clínico solapado que pueden ocasionar difíciles problemas para el diagnóstico. A diferencia de las colestasis extrahepáticas, las obstrucciones biliares intrahepáticas son menos frecuentes en la práctica médica y cursan con síntomas y signos comunes que entorpecen su confirmación, a la vez que se requieren procederes diagnósticos y técnicas imagenológicas específicas para su definición. Presentamos el caso de un hombre adulto de la sexta década de la vida con enfermedad de Caroli, que tuvo una evolución clínica fatal con formación de abscesos intrahepáticos, colangitis supurada y hemorragias digestivas. Esta entidad congénita, a pesar de su rareza, se debe tener en cuenta ante las circunstancias clínicas que se describen.
