Breve recuento sobre condiciones sanitarias, instituciones y personalidades de la salud en el municipio de Ciego de Ávila durante la seudorepública ( 1915-1945)
Abstract
El presente trabajo aborda aspectos sobre las condiciones sanitarias, instituciones de la salud, asícomo médicos y enfermeras que prestaban sus servicios a la población de Ciego de Ávila entre los
años de 1915 a 1945. Se realizaron búsquedas en revistas y periódicos de la época como base
fundamental para su elaboración. El sector de la salud, se caracterizó por fuertes limitaciones en el
servicio de sanidad a la población, con pocas posibilidades gratuitas, solamente asistidas en Casas de
Socorro y un Hospital Civil, con un alto contraste en el servicio privado de Clínicas, a las que solo
asistían una minoría. Las pésimas condiciones higiénico sanitarias en las que vivía la población
fundamentalmente al inicio de período, propiciaban la aparición de enfermedades infecto contagiosas
que ocasionaban epidemias, las cuales proliferaban por falta de atención de gobernantes y políticos
