Tentativa de suicidio en la tercera edad
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal en el Municipio Florencia, provincia Ciego deÁvila, con el propósito de determinar las características psicosociales y sociodemográficas en pacientes
de la Tercera Edad que realizaron intentos suicidas desde enero 2001 a diciembre 2005. El universo
estuvo conformada por 25 pacientes dispensarizados por tal motivos. Se encuestaron los mismos
previo consentimiento informado. Aplicamos un instrumento confeccionado al efecto, siendo
procesados los datos por el programa computarizado EPINFO 6. Los resultados se exponen en forma
de tablas de número y porciento. Los principales resultados fueron: Intentaron suicidarse aquellos con
edades comprendidas entre 65 a 69 años, sexo femenino, raza blanca, amas de casa, divorciados o
separados, utilizando como método para dicha conducta el ahorcamiento incompleto. Predominó la
depresión como síntoma afectivo en el momento del acto autodestructivo, la mayoría presentaban
enfermedades crónicas o invalidantes y red de apoyo social de tipo formal-informal percibida de calidad
previa a la conducta suicida
