Ventilación mecánica. Estudio de cinco años
Abstract
El incremento de la supervivencia de neonatos críticos es el resultado en gran medida del desarrollo en el equipamiento para la asistencia ventilatoria. Se realiza un estudio observacional descriptivo retrospectivo en el Hospital Provincial Docente "Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola" de Ciego de Ávila que incluye a todos los recién nacidos ventilados en el periodo comprendido desde enero de 2001 hasta diciembre de 2005, con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento de la ventilación mecánica neonatal en dicho centro. Se analizan algunas variables, llegando a la conclusión de que el índice de ventilación es elevado en el periodo estudiado, los periodos de tratamiento son prolongados entre 3 y 10 días, teniendo como complicación mas frecuente la sepsis. Sin embargo, la supervivencia se encuentra alrededor del 90 %.
