Melanoma maligno. Revisión bibliográfica.
Abstract
El melanoma es una neoplasia maligna que resulta de la transformación de los malanocitos usualmente localizados en la epidermis, que en el 95% de los casos se origina en la piel. Tiene una muy alta agresividad, con una gran tendencia a la producción de metástasis, es un tumor que ha cobrado notoriedad en los últimos decenios en virtud del significativo aumento de su incidencia y por el hecho de ser un cáncer que en su patogenia juega un papel fundamental el medio ambiente por la acción de los rayos ultravioletas, tiene una relación directa con la exposición al sol, especialmente durante la niñez; además, se estima que aproximadamente 10% de los casos de melanoma ocurre en el contexto de una predisposición genética debida a la transmisión autosómica dominante con penetrancia incompleta de un gen de susceptibilidad.
