Efecto de algunos factores de riesgo sobre la oclusión dentaria en escolares de 5 años de edad

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio analítico de casos y controles para determinar el posible efecto de la acción de algunos factores de riesgo como: hábitos bucales deformantes y agentes físicos postnatales de origen dentario, sobre la oclusión dentaria temporal. Se examinaron todos los niños de 5 años de edad con dentición temporal, matriculados en los círculos infantiles del área de salud de la Clínica Estomatológica Docente del municipio de Ciego de Ávila durante el curso escolar 2009-2010, teniendo como grupo de estudio a los niños con alteraciones de las características normales de la oclusión temporal y como grupo control a los niños sin alteraciones. Se concluye que los factores de riesgo: succión digital, empuje lingual, respiración bucal, caries proximal profunda y obturaciones proximales defectuosas, demostraron estar fuertemente asociados a las alteraciones de las características normales de la oclusión temporal como efecto. Se recomienda la atención preventiva interceptiva a los escolares desde edades tempranas, a través de una escala de riesgo que permita dispensarizar a aquellos con alto riesgo de padecer maloclusiones y seguirlos con un tratamiento integral
