Comportamiento clínico-epidemiológico del cáncer gástrico en el Departamento de Gastroenterología del Hospital Provincial de Ciego de Ávila
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio observacional-descriptivo prospectivo, con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento del cáncer gástrico en el Departamento de Gastroenterología del Hospital Provincial de Ciego de Ávila, en el período comprendido de septiembre del 2006 a febrero del 2009. El universo de trabajo estuvo conformado por 1934 pacientes a los que se les practicó una endoscopia digestiva alta, de los cuales constituyeron la muestra un total de 41 pacientes con lesiones sospechosas de cáncer gástrico. Se distribuyeron a los pacientes según edad y sexo, factores de riesgo, manifestaciones clínicas, hallazgos endoscópicos e histológicos. La edad más frecuente de aparición de la enfermedad correspondió a los pacientes entre los 60 y 69 años con un 30.4%, predominando el sexo masculino. El principal factor de riesgo fue el hábito de fumar con un 34.1%. El 58.5% de los pacientes presentaron pérdida de peso como la manifestación clínica más relevante. La variedad macroscópica que predominó fue el tipo ulcerado (34.1%), con mayor número de lesiones a nivel antral.
