Evaluación de los efectos clínicos con el uso del montelukast en pacientes con rinitis alérgica

Abstract

Se realizó un estudio de intervención pre- experimental (antes después) en pacientes con rinitis alérgica que acudieron a la consulta de alergología en el periodo comprendido de enero hasta julio 2011, con el objetivo de determinar el efecto del montelukast en la rinitis alérgica. El universo de estudio lo constituyeron 44 pacientes con rinitis alérgica que cumplieron los criterios de selección. Se representó la información en tablas y los resultados se compararon con la información obtenida y hallazgos de otros autores según bibliografía consultada, para evaluar el nivel de efectividad se utilizó el Test de comparación de media para ambos momentos, con un nivel de significación de α= 0.05. Antes del tratamiento los pacientes necesitaron usar más fármacos, presentaron síntomas que le afectaba la actividad diurna cotidiana, el estado clínico de los pacientes era insatisfactorio; después de la terapéutica se logró que solo el 36.4% de los pacientes usaran antihistamínicos y una mejoría clínica de los pacientes.
