Intervención educativa sobre la enfermedad del Nilo Occidental en los trabajadores de la salud del polo turístico “Jardines del Rey”
Abstract
Se realizó un estudio pre experimental para evaluar el nivel de conocimientos de los trabajadoresde la salud del polo turístico “Jardines del Rey”, sobre la enfermedad del Nilo Occidental, antes y
después de aplicar una intervención educativa, en el periodo de enero a abril de 2009. El universo
de estudio estuvo constituido por 45 trabajadores, se les aplicó una encuesta para medir el nivel
de conocimiento antes, y seis semanas después de la intervención; como medida de resumen de
la información se utilizó la distribución de frecuencia y los porcentajes. Para la comparación de las
calificaciones se realizó el cálculo de la media, la desviación estándar, el intervalo de confianza y
la prueba Z con un nivel de significación del 95%. Se concluyó que el mayor porcentaje de los
encuestados son Licenciados en Enfermería, trabajan en hoteles, tienen más de cuatro años de
experiencia y los conocimientos iniciales sobre el modo de transmisión, el reservorio, cuadro
clínico, prevención y vigilancia, fueron bajos, así como los conocimientos generales. Una vez
realizada la intervención estos conocimientos se elevaron; se logró un predominio de los niveles
medio y alto en el mayor porciento de los encuestados.
