Aplicación del ozono por vía rectal en el tratamiento de niños con diarrea persistente

Abstract

Se realizo un estudio cuasiexperimental con el objetivo de conocer el comportamiento del tratamiento con ozono por vía rectal de niños con Diarrea Persistente. Fueron tratados con este método, todos los niños que durante un período de 2 años fueron atendidos en nuestro centro por dicha enfermedad, siempre con el consentimiento de los padres o tutores. Por otra parte se revisaron las historias clínicas de los niños con igual enfermedad que recibieron tratamiento convencional y se realizó la comparación entre los dos grupos. Se obtuvo como resultado que el 80% de los pacientes tratados con ozono resolvió la diarrea en un tiempo menor de 10 días y solo el 15% de aquellos que recibieron tratamiento convencional lo logró en igual período de tiempo. Se logró una recuperación nutricional de un 12,5% en el grupo estudio un 70% se mantuvo asintomático al mes del tratamiento. En el grupo control el 25% se recuperó nutricionalmente y el 47,5% se mantuvo asintomático. En ambos grupos se encontró la deshidratación y la desnutrición como complicaciones más frecuentes.
