Propuesta de algoritmo para mejorar la atención integral al paciente pediátrico con enfermedad oncológica en Atención Primaria de Salud

Abstract

Se realizó una investigación descriptiva transversal de enero a diciembre del 2008 con el objetivo de determinar la satisfacción con la atención recibida según la percepción del familiar del paciente pediátrico con enfermedad oncológica, y luego proponer un algoritmo para mejorar la atención a estos pacientes en la provincia de Ciego de Ávila. La muestra estuvo conformada por la totalidad de los responsables o tutores, con criterio de inclusión y firma del consentimiento informado. Se aplicó una entrevista estructurada y validada. Los datos se distribuyeron en tablas, comentarios y esquema. Solo el 21,2% estaba satisfecho con la atención recibida. Teniendo en cuenta los resultados, se diseñó un algoritmo para mejorar la atención al paciente pediátrico con enfermedad maligna en la Atención Primaria de Salud en cinco etapas (etapa I: sospecha de cáncer infantil, etapa II: paciente con tratamiento, etapa III: paciente oncopediátrico con cáncer en remisión, etapa IV: paciente oncopediátrico sobreviviente, etapa V: paciente oncopediátrico con enfermedad terminal). Este algoritmo se propone para su generalización en la provincia, con evaluación posterior de los resultados
