Practical solution for the primary repair of open break of distal phalanges from the hand. Case report
Abstract
Introduction: the fractures of the hands phalanges have never received the attention they deserve because they are considered unimportant, however, the disability they cause causes the entire limb to lose its function, so the surgeon must treat them with special care.
Objective: to describe the timely treatment for open fracture of the distal phalanges of the fingers of the hand, applicable at the first level of health care.
Case presentation: male patient, 42 years old and white skin color. He suffered severe trauma to his left hand with an open fracture of the third and fourth distal phalanges. The surgical treatment of choice was carried out, and a good result was obtained with the use of more common and less expensive materials than those described in the literature.
Conclusions: timely treatment for open fracture of the distal phalanges of the fingers is described, applicable at the first level of health care. The contribution of this article is to present a practical solution for the repair of this type of fracture with a simple method and affordable materials.Downloads
