Introduction: diabetic foot is a preventable chronic complication that affects the quality of life of patients. The use of Heberprot-P® has a favorable impact on its evolution.
Objective: to describe the evolution of the condition and quality of life in patients with diabetic foot ulcer, treated with Heberprot-P®.
Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive observational study was carried out in a universe of 83 patients from the Fomento health area, who attended the comprehensive diabetic foot care consultation, in the period 2020-2022. Through intentional sampling, a sample of 78 was selected. Sociodemographic, clinical, and quality of life variables were studied using the SF-36 questionnaire. Ethical principles were met.
Results: predominantly female patients, white skin color, and over 65 years of age. All of them had type 2 diabetes. The main treatment consisted of diet, oral hypoglycemic agents, and Heberprot-P® for diabetic foot ulcers. In general, according to patient references, their health-related quality of life was fair.
Conclusions: diabetic foot ulcers treated with Heberprot-P® progressed favorably towards healing. Patients' quality of life (health-related, and measured by physical role, bodily pain, general health, social function, emotional role, and mental health) was described as fair
