Tratamiento con morfina peridural para alivio del dolor por cáncer. Revisión del tema
Abstract
El dolor es la experiencia más desagradable que experimenta el hombre y que sin duda lo obliga a pedir asistencia médica. En un área tan extensa como la oncología, varias investigaciones se han hecho en lo referente a trabajos relacionados con los mecanismos de oncogénesis y de proliferación tumoral, asimismo, también se ha avanzado en lo referente al alivio del dolor por cáncer. No hay forma exacta de definir al paciente canceroso en estadío terminal. Su vida tiene un contenido limitado, dominada por el dolor, El descubrimiento de los receptores opiáceos y de los péptidos asociados neurotransmisores ha permitido un mejor conocimiento de la fisiopatología del dolor y son las bases actuales de los trabajos clínicos en el manejo de diversos patrones dolorosos por medio de las inyecciones intratecales y epidurales de morfínicos. La analgesia morfínica es comúnmente empleada en el dolor por cáncer y la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) la recomienda como tratamiento de elección en la fase final de la enfermedad. Las recientes publicaciones y trabajos realizados tanto en nuestro país como en el resto del mundo avalan la analgesia peridural con morfina como una magnífica alternativa en el manejo del dolor oncológico.
