Tabaquismo. Una realidad no desconocida

Abstract

Se realiza una actualización de la temática por lo polémica que resulta, no se hace énfasis en las características de este hábito, sus consecuencias y prejuicios para la salud, se trata de abordar la realidad desconocida de la prioridad que le establece el estado cubano a la producción a grandes escalas de la hoja del tabaco, los cuantiosos recursos que destina a esta actividad, la preferencia que le da a este movimiento y en especial la atención que le presta al desarrollo del cultivo. Se pone al descubierto el nivel científico-técnico, la creación de centros verdaderamente especializados de investigación y perfeccionamiento del cultivo, a pesar de contarse con varios programas de prevención y control del tabaquismo, consultas de desintoxicación tabáquica y otros programas relacionados con el anterior, por tener en cuenta su estrecha relación, pues es sabido que el tabaquismo clasifica como principal factor de riesgo en la aparición de varios tipos y formas de cáncer, lo cual constituye en la actualidad la primera causa de muerte en casi la totalidad de la nación
