Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo a un grupo de personas del consultorio médico de la familia No 33, del Área de Salud Norte en Ciego de Ávila; con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento del hábito de bruxismo en esta comunidad. Se estudió una muestra de 109 individuos a los cuales se les hizo una entrevista que constó de un interrogatorio y un examen clínico. Se precisó una alta prevalencia de bruxismo, que afectó al 67% de la población examinada, lo cual se manifiesta más en los mayores de 45 años y con alto nivel educacional. El signo más observado fueron las facetas de desgastes no funcionales, presentes en el 100% de los bruxópatas, seguido de los trastornos de la Articulación Temporomandibular (ATM) en el 58.9%. Mientras que el síntoma más frecuente fue el dolor en la ATM, presente en el 20.6% de las personas afectadas por el hábito. Se recomienda extender el estudio a otros grupos poblacionales.Downloads
