El masaje tradicional tunia en el tratamiento de las algias vertebrales
Abstract
Se realizó un ensayo clínico fase III, controlado, abierto, aleatorio, no secuencial, con el propósito de evaluar la eficacia del masaje tuina en el tratamiento de las algias vertebrales, en el Centro para el Desarrollo Integral de MTN de Morón, Ciego de Ávila, desde enero del 2003 a diciembre del 2004. El universo de estudio estuvo constituido por la totalidad de pacientes, aquejados de algias vertebrales, no acompañados de procesos compresivos, durante dicho período. Una vez aplicados los criterios de inclusión y exclusión quedó constituida la muestra por 120 pacientes con edades entre los 20 y 60 ó más años. Por muestreo aleatorio simple se formaron dos grupos de pacientes, un grupo estudio constituido por 60 de ellos, tratados con masaje tuina y uno control con igual cantidad que recibió tratamiento fisioterapéutico. Se utilizó un modelo de Historia Clínica confeccionado al respecto y como medida de resumen el test estadístico de Error Estándar y los porcentajes, con un nivel de significación del 0.05, el cual representa el 95% de confiabilidad. Se obtuvo una mejoría notable en los pacientes del grupo estudio, lo cuál incrementó su independencia para las actividades de la vida diaria.
